(End of numeracy starter in which we calculate percentages)
Me: I love Maths starters! And I especially love this one because percentage sums are my favourite type of sum.
(Overly enthusiastic and possibly a white lie but I always try to be exceptionally Maths-positive).
J: *hand up*
(J could have aced his GCSE Maths whilst at primary school. He had previously asked how many decimal places I wanted the calculations done to.)
Me: Yes, J?
J: You got that wrong Miss. You can't say sum, because a sum is addition and doing a percentage isn't addition.
